Baseball - Ballpark Assistant

This can include doing payrolls, compiling and paying outside vendors for contract work, organizing and hiring of outside vendors or even posting jobs, reviewing contract submissions and determining which contractor would be acceptable for the job.

Minor and major league ballpark assistants will have basically the same job although minor league ballpark assistants may have more diverse job expectations as there are generally less employees in minor league fields. In some areas the baseball ballpark assistant hires the ticket sales people, oversees advanced ticket sales, as well as works to advertise and promote local at home games. In major and minor league fields the ballpark assistant may also work closely with television and radio crews to ensure they have everything they need to complete sports casts and interviews will at the diamond.

Common work activities include:

  • Developing a market base for the team, monitoring ticket sales and advertising campaigns.
  • Completing payroll, invoicing and other paperwork required.
  • Posting, reviewing and hiring outside vendors for maintenance and expansion of existing facilities at the ball diamond when required.
  • Hiring and training new individuals working either in the ticket area or within the facilities. This can include training on computer systems, proper use of equipment, as well as reviewing emergency procedures and protocols.
  • Ensuring that television and radio crews have access to the correct location in the ballpark and providing any required items for broadcasts.
