Photography - Portrait Photographer
A portrait photographer works very closely with clients to create a photograph of a special person, event or gathering that will serve as a memento for years to come. The portrait photographer must be able to listen closely to what the customer is wanting in a photograph and be able to capture the emotion as well as the visual content in the picture. Most portrait photographer work exclusively from a studio but some will attend weddings and other gatherings and may do work outside of the studio.
Portrait photography often has a lot to do with choosing the right background, colors, lighting and even props. Many portrait photographers compete family photos for gifts, cards and other events. Some work exclusively on headshots for actors or actresses while still others do only wedding photography. Most portrait photographers will spend time talking to the customer to determine what mood they want in the photograph. For example, a wedding photographer will strive to capture the love, emotion and beauty of a wedding, whereas a portrait photographer for a star may focus on beauty and personality.
Most portrait photographers have their own business so must also focus on all the aspects of managing a business as well as taking pictures. Some have their own film development facilities where others use specialized photo labs or even digital photography. Using computers in digital photography is very important and is one of the latest technologies for creating the optimum portrait picture.
