Print Cartridge Remanufacturer
Print cartridge remanufacturers are recyclers that actually use the cartridges for printers over again saving potentially huge amounts of plastic waste in disposal sites. They collect old cartridges, either ink or laser cartridges and put in a new ribbon and ink and then return the to the client at a fraction of the cost of buying a completely new ink or laser cartridge. Since the cartridges are the original item there is no concern regarding compatibility or issues with the warranty on most models of printers.
People that make their living remanufacturing printer cartridges spend a lot of time finding new sources of old cartridges. This can mean calling schools, large companies and other agencies to purchase old cartridges for very small amount. The cartridges are then remanufactured and sold for a profit, but still well under the cost of a new ink cartridge. Some of the print cartridge remanufacturers start out in very small businesses and then gradually increase in size as the number of cartridges or demand for recycled cartridges increases.
A lot of the market for recycled or remanufactured cartridges is through online websites and advertising. This means that a print cartridge manufacturer should be aware of various online sales programs, must have the ability to accept credit cards and other online payment options, and should have the ability to pack and ship cartridges quickly to keep customers satisfied with the service. Some technical ability, good computer skills and business and advertising experience are helpful in the market.
Common work activities include:
- Introducing businesses and groups in the community to the concept of remanufacturing printer cartridges.
- Traveling to schools, businesses and groups to collect old printer cartridges, counting the returned cartridges and issuing payments.
- Sending the old cartridges off for remanufacturing or completing the remanufacturing process.
- Advertising and marketing the remanufactured cartridges through contact with local businesses, websites or online auctions.
- Processing orders including packaging, labeling, billing and shipping orders.
- Scheduling employees, hiring, training and overseeing the daily operation of the company.
- Handling customer complaints, answering questions and promoting the recycled cartridges.
