Title Company Manager

Title Company Manager

A title company handles the transfer of titles when property is sold, inherited or gifted from the original owner to another person. This involves more than just signing documents and filing titles, it also involves coordinating all aspects of the sale or transfer from the real estate agents through to the mortgage companies and even handling escrow accounts. Often the title company will also oversee insurance and taxation issues with regards to the property and will help facilitate the smooth transition of funds from the buyer to the seller and ownership from the seller to the buyer.

The title company manager usually has employees that handle the actual customer transactions, but the manager may become directly involved in very complex title transfers or very large transfers that have a potential for difficulties. The title company manager usually has experience in legal issues regarding real estate transactions as well as a strong background in financial issues as they pertain to property purchasing. The title company manager may also work with certain clients that have a long history with the company or with clients that have specifically requested the manager's services.

As the manager all aspects of the day-to-day operation of the title company will be under this persons supervision. That will including hiring, training, supervision and termination of both agents and support staff in the office. The manager will oversee the budget of the company, handle customer complaints or problems and work to market the services of the company in the community. The title company manager also spends time networking with real estate agents, mortgage officers and brokers, and others involved in the sale or purchase of property to constantly increase the clients using the company's service.

Common work activities include:

  • Hiring, training, supervising and firing of staff both in the professional and support areas of the company or office.
  • Overseeing the services provided to customers and their agents when they arrive at the title company.
  • Coordinating and facilitating the smooth and speedy transfer of funds between buyers and sellers and the similar transfer of title.
  • Filing all necessary paperwork with the appropriate government agencies or courts to facilitate the legal title transfer.
  • Networking with real estate professionals, bank officers, brokers and mortgage company officials to expand the client base and advertise services.
  • Drawing up the budget for the company including expenses and estimated income.
  • Ensuring that all supplies, equipment and technology needed for efficient title transfer is available to employees as required.
