Online Degree Programs in General Studies
General Studies programs give students an overview of many disciplines including arts and humanities, mathematics, behavioral sciences, and natural sciences. Students will be expected to complete basic courses in each of these subjects in order to earn their degree. Students will be exposed to many points of view, theories, and opinions in a variety of different areas. General Studies programs are designed for students who are curious about the world and around them and who want an overview of different disciplines that strive to answer life’s most difficult questions.
It is through general studies courses that many students will decide what it is they want to do once they graduate from college. For some students, this can be a difficult time. With so much information available and so many career choices, students need more time to consider their options. Many students are also interested in different academic areas and want to know a little about each of them. Each semester, students will take classes that are not necessarily related to each other. For many, this is exciting and challenging at the same time.

Some general studies programs offer students the opportunity to minor in other areas so they will be better able to use their degree once they graduate. While some students are able to find employment after graduating, some will have to return to school and earn an advanced degree in a specialized subject.
General Studies programs give students a solid academic foundation. They will be able to pursue many interests including writing, psychology, math, history, English, and foreign language. Students will benefit from learning more about their world and how it has changed over time. These programs prepare students for challenges that are to come in their professional and personal lives.
