You know how there’s always a constant stream of meals to make in the run-up to Christmas and its aftermath? Well, here are 8 gorgeous wintry menus of new recipes to give you plenty of inspiration, plus a few veggie accompaniments. We’ve taken away all the guesswork, choosing dishes that partner each other perfectly and in many cases, one or more courses can be prepared ahead.

Barola BeefOf the 30 new recipes, starters include speedy prawn and avocado cocktail, roasted pumpkin soup, scallops in the shell and celery soup. For the main course, Delia describes pot roast of pheasant as “an excellent alternative Christmas lunch for four people”. There’s also classic roast pork, beef in Barolo (right), winter vegetable pie and braised venison (“freezes extremely well and fits the bill perfectly at Christmas when you have had enough turkey”).

Four new vegetable recipes include scrumptious red cabbage, and roasted stuffed apples – the perfect accompaniment to roast pork. Plus, “a deliciously different” way to cook cauliflower and broccoli and potato and apple rosti - “extremely good served with pork dishes and really meaty pork sausages.” There’s also a chutney that will “partner the Christmas cold cuts and buffet food extremely well, especially ham, pork pies and gammon.”

For dessert, take your pick of Delia’s irresistible one-crust pie with spiced apples and raisins, left (“the easiest apple pie in the world”), served with nutmeg mascarpone ice cream (“an absolute winner with apple pie,” says Delia), individual pecan pies and gorgeous retro crepes suzette, plus an apple and almond pudding that takes just minutes to make. And you can cool things down with lime and mango ice cream or velvety mascarpone creams with caramel.
