The Doctor of Education program prepares students to understand practice, policy, research and the relationships among them along with preparing students with the education leadership skills they will require. There are two choices of specialization offered, which is Administrator Leadership for Teaching and Learning and Teacher Leadership. Students entering into the Doctor of Education program work towards their selected specialization through independent study.
The goal of this course of study is to give the students the tools necessary for accepting leadership roles, while continuing to practice teaching. A graduate understands school issues and is able to lead others and communicate, which improves the students educational experience. A Doctor of Education degree prepares students for careers in education such as administrative professional, university faculty members, superintendent, policy makers, educational leaders, vice-principal, principal and researchers, among other roles. A Doctor of Education graduate works towards improving schools and the provided education for the students.
