For those students interested in teaching math in the middle through high school levels a Bachelor of Arts in teaching mathematics is an excellent course of study. The program will give students a strong foundation in the theory of mathematics as well as the practical ability to teach effectively. Students entering the program must have already completed a bachelor’s level class and are wanting to further specialize in mathematics instruction. Students can specialize in either grades 5-9 or grades 5-12.
Courses will focus on the methodology and techniques used to teach students mathematics. Classes will focus on specific strategies as well as research based teaching methods and best practices. Classes will also include working with students with various learning disabilities or developmental delays, as well as working with gifted and talented students.
