This degree program will teach students who work with those in special education programs. Students will learn from this degree program how to work one-on-one with children and adults who are handicapped or who have learning disabilities. Preparing curriculum, giving guidance, and evaluating individual student strengths and weaknesses will make it easier to teach them later on.
Teaching people with learning, physical, and emotional disabilities is not an easy job. Being able to evaluate individual students makes the job much easier, however. Courses that students will take while earning their degree include learning evaluation methods, teaching methods, curriculum development, and psychology. These courses will prepare students for working with those who have minor to severe disabilities. Students will be able to find jobs in a number of areas including teaching, administrative positions, directing young adult and adult care facilities, and consulting for various organizations that help those who have learning and physical disabilities.
