Health information management is becoming one of the fastest growing fields in healthcare systems across the country and around the world. Graduates of the Associate of Applied Science in health information technology will be able to work in hospitals, clinics, physicians offices or even insurance and government agencies in coding, managing and processing of patient information and data into databases and other health information systems to effectively monitor, bill and manage patients.
Throughout the program, which is sixty-six credit hours or four complete full-time semesters, students will have opportunities to work with the various technologies now in use in the healthcare information technology field. Students will complete classes in medical coding and billing, biomedical information applications programming, web applications for health information technology and database management, design and data entry.
