Online Degree Programs in LPN to BSN

Nurses who already have their LPN license may want to return to school in order to earn their BSN so that they will have to opportunity to work in certain areas of nursing and also so they will have the opportunity for promotions. Nurses who have their LPN license should have taken courses in first aid, patient care, medical terminology, and medical equipment. They will be able to provide additional care when needed in hospitals, nursing care facilities, clinics, and doctor’s offices. LPN’s may also hand out medications to patients and will be able to view patient files and make notes when necessary.

A BSN in nursing will further their career and allow them to earn more money over time and also take on additional responsibilities such as assisting doctors, working on certain floors within a hospital, and be given certain management duties such as training. These degrees will also allow students to work toward advanced degrees so that they can someday work in administration. Nurses who work in administration take on a management role and will not have as much interaction with patients as other nurses.

Earning a BSN will take another two years after a nurse earns their LPN license. During this time, nurses will have to complete an internship, they will have to learn advanced medical terminology, and they will have to pass their nursing certification exam. This exam will test knowledge and problem solving skills needed to provide adequate health care to patients. This exam can be taken numerous times and is needed in order to work in any health care facility. Once a nurse has earned their BSN and passed the certification test, they will be able to find work in emergency rooms, trauma units, pediatrics, and many other areas in hospitals, clinics, and offices.
