Online Degree Programs in RN to BSN

An RN or registered nurse to BSN or Bachelor of Science in Nursing is a degree-completion program designed for registered nurses wanting to earn their Bachelor's of Science in Nursing degree. There is certainly a need for nurses with Baccalaureate of Nursing degrees today with the increase in patients in short and long term care facilities. The majority of registered nurses enrolled in RN to BSN programs are working professionals, employed either part-time or full-time, so most RN to BSN programs offer daytime, evening or weekend courses.

With the complexities of the ever-changing technology in the medical field and the increasing leadership role of nurses, there is definitely a growing need for more nurses that completed the RN to BSN program. Registered nurses, who have completed a BSN, receive or qualify for more job opportunities within the nursing field often have increased responsibility in the work field but also receive increased compensation. An example of this is that many hospitals will not hire operating room nurses, nurse anesthetists or pediatric nurses unless they possess a BSN.

The career opportunities for a person with an RN to BSN degree are numerous in most hospital and health care facilities across the country. Some BSN graduates choose to remain in staff nursing, seeking more responsibility within the position. Others seek nursing positions that require a BSN degree, such as an operating room nurse, school nurse or health and medical services manager. The outlook for registered nursing careers, especially for registered nurses with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, looks extremely positive, partly due to the thorough, quality healthcare they provide. They expect employment to continue growing faster than average as BSN's are in high demand. As healthcare costs increase, the need for cost-effective healthcare providers, such as BSNs, continues to rise.
