Students graduating from the Associate of Science in criminal justice degree will have a well-developed understanding of both the theory, methods and procedures used in the criminal justice system. Students may choose to continue on to bachelor or master level programs or may also enter the workforce as corrections, parole, probation, security, investigators, or law enforcement officers. Some may also continue on to careers in law, work within the court system, or work with juveniles or other at-risk groups.
Students will have some flexibility in the courses they choose for the degree but all will be required to take classes in communication, crime development, human behavior, criminal and constitutional law, policing practices and procedures as well as criminology and evidence collection. Students will be provided opportunities to apply the skills and knowledge that they learn in class to real world situations and events.
