Graduates of the Associate of Applied Science in criminal justice program will have an excellent understanding of both investigative techniques and current practices in criminal justice as well as the current methods used in forensics, crime scene investigation and court procedures. The courses will allow students to learn the fundamental legal issues that are addressed through the court system. They will learn how to prepare evidence for criminal charges as well as how to present evidence in testimony at court.
Courses in the program of study emphasis the collaborative nature of the criminal justice system and encourage teamwork and close working relationships with other members of the investigative team. Critical thinking, problem solving and logical and methodical approaches to criminal justice and criminal investigations are stressed throughout the program. Students will have the opportunity to work through evidence and understand how each component of evidence can be used to support or rule out criminal activity.
