At Utica College, there are six courses in the Financial Crimes Investigator certificate program, which they design to give students the necessary skills and knowledge. This specialized program of study gives students the theoretical knowledge and basic skills necessary to investigate, identify, prevent and fight financial crimes. Six individual courses make up the financial crimes investigator program. Upon completion, students have the option of transferring their credits to a BS in Economic Crime Investigation program. Some of the course study topics include fraud identification and control, basic accounting principals, and financial crime legal issues.
The financial crime investigator studies economic or white-collar crime. This involves investigating the crime, apprehension, along with court filings and conviction of crimes that occur in government and business.
