Students wishing to pursue a career in law enforcement or with one of the many agencies within the Homeland Security department will benefit from graduating from the Associate of Arts in Homeland Security degree. The program will provide a good theoretical and factual understanding of the responsibilities of the various agencies and departments within Homeland Security as well as their respective interactions with law enforcement and other governmental agencies in issues of national security.
Students will also become aware of issues with regards to planning and responding to emergencies such as foreign or domestic terrorism, management of hazardous or dangerous materials, as well as the responsibilities and authorities of the various agencies to manage these situations. Many students will proceed with their education to take advanced courses in security, anti-terrorism or other law enforcement related programs.
