The Associate of Science in homeland security is designed to allow students to gain a broad understanding of the various security issues that face local, national and international agencies, businesses and governments. The course will allow students to develop the critical thinking and logic based knowledge needed to effectively and accurately develop, analysis and develop security systems for a variety of agencies including the Department of Homeland Security.
Courses will include studies in security, legal issues, criminal, civil and constitutional law, tactical communications and emergency planning and preparedness. The classes will focus on the need of building teams of first responders and planners throughout the agency, community or government, as well as leadership and management skills needed to develop these teams. Student will also learn the various parts of Homeland security and how the agencies interact in times of crisis.
