An Associate of Arts in paralegal studies will allow graduates to work in court systems, for attorneys or other companies or businesses that deal with legal issues. Paralegal programs teach students the theory behind the various types of court systems, as well as how to communicate and interact with those in the legal system such as attorneys, court clerks and judges.

Students in the program will use case studies and other examples to follow a case through from interviewing clients, gathering evidence, completing legal research to preparing for court and assisting the attorney in the court. Paralegals will also learn how to draft court documents, complete filing necessary court paperwork as well as preparing notes and reference material for court hearings. Students will focus on effective communication through both written and verbal forms as well as using the latest technology and software programs in use in the legal system.
