Online Degree Programs in Behavioral Science

Those individuals that enjoy working with people and understanding human behavior and development will benefit from a program of study in the area of behavioral science. Behavioral science can also be applied to animals and the study of their natural tendencies, interactions and movements. All behavioral science programs allow graduates to develop skills and knowledge needed to understand the interaction between different groups and the members of the group or different groups and the environment. There are many different specializations with the behavioral science including psychology, psychobiology, social research, anthropology, sociology and social networks. Behavioral scientists that focus on animal interactions and behavior include natural behavior and modifications to the environment to understand the impact of civilization on the animal populations.

Students that are interested in the behavioral science field will usually specialize in either animal or human behavioral science. They will then further specialize into either research based or operational based studies. Research scientists in the behavioral science often work in the field and in real life research rather than in laboratories or isolated academic projects. Research behavioral scientists take additional classes in research design, statistics and project management and development. Students focusing more on the communication and human interaction aspects of behavior sciences will take classes that include psychology, anthropology, human development, management and communication.

Students completing degrees in behavioral science can find jobs in the agricultural sector, zoos, wildlife management, human resources, marketing, research, teaching or even with private research and development companies. Behavioral science graduates may also be hired by schools, businesses and governments to help understand the issues around human behavior. There are many different levels of programs for behavioral science degrees. Associates, Bachelor, Master and even PhD level programs are available in all of the subcategories of behavioral sciences.
