Information systems security was created to protect information from those who were not supposed to be viewing it. Employee information, banking information, credit card information, trade secrets, and company plans are different types of information that can be retrieved online if people are not careful. While many companies protect their web sites from those who want to steal customer banking and credit card information in order to commit identity theft, protecting the company itself has become an issue. Most information technology departments have personnel that maintain and install computer software programs that will help protect companies from internet theft. These programs will scramble words, frequencies, and will even create walls so that the information cannot be viewed by those who are not authorized.
