Students that graduate from the Associates Degree in IT or networking and security management are able to work with both computer users and the systems to analysis, evaluate and plan for effective networking and security issues within the system. Students will have opportunities throughout the program to work with a variety of different operating systems, software programs and networking equipment.
Courses will include practical experience in setting up local area networks and the interaction between LANs and WANs. Routers, bridges and switches as well as networking problems and challenges will also be addressed. Monitoring and management of network security as well as legal and ethical considerations in network security are all addressed in courses throughout the degree. Students completing the program may choose to continue on to a bachelor or master program in IT, networking or security management or may also go directly into the workforce.
