In the late 1800s, Benedictine University, then named St. Procipus College after its founders from the St. Procipus Abbey, was an educational facility in Chicago, IL, generally reserved for men of Czech and Slovak descent. Today, the university's values continue to be firmly rooted in its Catholic tradition and its connection to the Benedictine Order, but students from all backgrounds and locations are encouraged to share in the rich academic, athletic and extracurricular experiences that Benedictine University promotes, through small class sizes, hands-on professors, men's and women's varsity and independent sports and many other student clubs and organizations.

Located on a 108-acre scenic landscape, Benedictine University offers wide-ranging undergraduate degree programs like World Literature, Gender Studies, Radiation Therapy, Finance and Engineering Science. A solid graduate program offers ten master's degree programs and two doctorate programs, in departments like Business and Health Sciences. The university also offers online degree programs in certain fields. All students are assigned a faculty member as part of an academic advising program so that students receive quality guidance and mentorship from university insiders.

Besides featuring a diverse academic profile, Benedictine University also provides a fulfilling student life, ranging from intramural and varsity sports to an active student government to on and off campus community involvement and dormitory living. The Career Development center helps students transition from college life to career life by guiding them in their selection of a satisfying, enriching career path. Career Development staff offer counseling services and help forge connections between students and recruiters.

To get a feel for the Catholic institution's academic and student flavor, visit Benedictine University in Lisle, IL, where prospective students can meet professors, students and admissions counselors, as well as tour the campus and Jurica Nature Museum, which houses natural habitat exhibits, bird collections, and a variety of preserved skeletons.
