Capella University has established innovative and student centered distance learning since 1993. As one of the early distance learning universities, Capella has continued to offer new and innovative programs.
Capella University consists of five different schools. Each school offers different degree programs within them. Degrees offered include Bachelors, Masters and PhD level.
One of the best characteristics of Capella University is the large number of programs and degree options available. The faculty at Capella will work with you on creating an overall plan for your degree. The University currently offers over seven hundred different online course options. Capella University offers ninety areas of study at the undergraduate and graduate level. To date more then sixteen thousand people have studied at Capella' they come from every state in the union and over sixty countries.
Capella students can communicate with their teachers and fellow students through message boards and online lectures. Each student takes a beginning level course that will teach the student to maximize the online learning tools provided. Some courses follow the quarter system and last three months other are shorter. Students are responsible for turning in all assignments prior to the end of their course. As part of the class work student are required to log into their virtual classroom between two – five times per week.
One key factor to look for in any College is being officially accredited Capella University belongs to the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools and has earned accreditation from the Higher Learning Commission.
One of the beneficial aspects of Capella University is that they allow certain prior credits from other institutions. These credits usually must be related to your degree program however, some credits maybe accepted towards your electives. Credit for prior work experience is also available. This feature is especially valuable to professional who are mid-career and returning to Capella to further their growth within a company.
One major concern for many students is cost. Many Capella students may qualify for Grants, scholarships, federal financial aid and Non Federal students loans. You may also qualify Veterans benefits, and employer reimbursement.
There are some rather unique options at Capella. For instance, are you a potential PhD candidate? Capella offers a free service called PhD Roadmap. This is the only program we know of which covers the cost of official records and the various transcripts needed to apply.
Capella offers enough different degree and certificate options that anybody with the motivation can find a program, which will help a person, grow both personally and professionally.
