Champlain College offers its distance students several unique benefits. Of course students of this college have the added advantage of working at their own pace, scheduling to fit around their needs, and avoiding the high pressure environment of taking classes on campus, but Champlain College offers other benefits to their students as well.
Students aren't left to their own devices. Each and every online student is assigned to an academic advisor to help guide him or her through his or her college experience. Students are able to meet and communicate with their advisors in a number of ways throughout the semester. Advisors can be contacted on the phone, through email, or fax. If the student lives close enough to the campus, face to face meetings are encouraged as well. The academic advisors are there to offer advice on career goals, class scheduling, and answer any other questions.
One of the biggest challenges traditional and non traditional college students face is purchasing their textbooks for classes. Champlain College offers their online students the option of buying their class books through a convenient online bookstore.
A web based library and resource center is another feature available to online students of Champlain College. Here students have access to full text journals, electronic books, and periodicals. Enrolled students also have access to several online databases subscribed to by the university. In addition to the online library services, long distance students also can borrow print books from the school's library by requesting an interlibrary loan from their local library.
With the use of a bookstore and online library, and helpful academic advisors, the Champlain College provides their long distance students with more than just well taught, useful classes. The student is provided with all of the tools and advantages he or she needs to succeed in their chosen coursework.
