Widely regarded as the nation's largest graduate school for psychology students and research, The Chicago School specializes in programs like Business Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Counseling, School Psychology and others. As a facility for higher learning and research, The Chicago School also recognizes its pledge to service through the field of psychology and the education of its students. By guiding its graduates towards promising careers in the practice of psychology, The Chicago School realizes one of its primary goals of contributing to the field of practical psychology and helping its students succeed.
Founded in 1979 by the Midwestern Psychology Development Foundation, The Chicago School of Professional Psychology is located in downtown Chicago, and prides itself on its diverse community and industry. Focused on teaching the most current theories and practices, the faculty at The Chicago School design their courses so that students are aptly prepared for real-world situations and client sessions. The school also believes in the curing power of multicultural understanding and is devoted to reaching out to all kinds of communities in the name of psychology and therapy.
Students at The Chicago School participate in rigorous volunteer programs to hone their skills and gain valuable work experience in hospitals, correctional facilities and other in-need facilities. On campus activities and support groups are also available at the academic and career planning levels, where students receive extra attention, including small tutorial sessions, from professors and career counselors. The Office of Placement and Training organizes internships for students and helps develop their interviewing and application skills. Students also gain access to recruiters, special training programs and other mentorship opportunities.
The Chicago School's Center for Multicultural and Diversity Studies provides resources for those affiliated with the university and the outside Chicago community. Center-sponsored events promote diversity and tolerance, as well as information and research about psychology.
