Founded in 1887, Gonzaga University hosts ninety-two undergraduate and twenty-one graduate programs. The Jesuit school is named for a young sixteenth century Italian Jesuit, Aloysius Gonzaga, the patron saint of youth. The educational philosophy of this four year university is based on the four hundred fifty year old Ignatian model. The goal is to educate the mind, body and spirit. Gonzaga integrates science, art, faith, reason, action and contemplation into its curriculum. This small university hosts one of only three law schools in the state of Washington. The physical campus is located in Spokane, Washington.
Gonzaga holds accreditation with several accrediting boards. Those boards are: American Association of Nurse Anesthetists, Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs, Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology, National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education, Northwest Commission on Accreditation, The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. With these accreditations under the belt the school hosts six different colleges: College of Arts and Sciences (students here primarily pursue degrees in the humanities and the social and physical sciences), School of Business Administration (students are required to take liberal arts courses with their business curriculum to create a well rounded professional), School of Education (Gonzaga offers undergraduate and graduate programs, they also have educational specialties), School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (programs in mechanical, electrical, civil, computer and general engineering as well as computer science), School of Law and the School of Professional Studies (undergraduate, graduate and doctoral levels of nursing, general studies, exercise science, organizational leadership studies and communication and leadership studies).
Currently there are three master’s programs available online, master of arts in organizational leadership, master of arts in communication and leadership studies degree online and master of science in nursing online. Students and instructors communicate via forums and email. Classes are taught using interactive courses that use graphics, audio and video components.
Financial aid counselors are available to help students find the most possible financial aid for their education. Types of aid available at Gonzaga University are federal loans, grants and work study. They also provide access to applications for alternative education loans, scholarships.
