In a unique twist from the conventional online education programs, the New England Culinary Institute offers its online students a hospitality and culinary based education. With state of the art online tools and instructions at their disposal students can expect to gain the knowledge and practical skills associated with fine dining and sound nutrition. After graduation, students can use their diplomas, certificates, and degrees in various food industry fields. Resorts, restaurants, and bakeries are just a few of the career options available to graduates.
One of the first classes online students will find themselves in is Cooking Theory and Food Science. This course will prepare students to use knives properly, receive instruction in the chemistry of food, and introduce theoretical components. During the course of this study, students will also engage in scientific principles and experimental method. It is an excellent overall introduction into the culinary professional world.
Another interesting course students can expect to take is History, Flavor and Culture. This course in heavy in historical facts and world events that left their mark on the culinary tradition and how food is viewed today. Students will participate in online discussions, guided web research, and a student directed project. The knowledge acquired with participation in this course will benefit the student in their chosen culinary discipline, especially fine dining.
In the Ethics course provided to online students by the New England Culinary Institute, students will receive instruction on how to analyze and correct problems quickly and efficiently. Analytical thinking and practical methods for working through problems is the focus of this course. It is designed to provide students with human interaction skills that are useful in any industry.
The NECI is dedicated to providing their students with all of the skills and information, practically and nutritionally; they will need to be competent, successful chefs, bakers, and restaurant owners.
